Open lecture of the Chief Specialist on Ensuring the Activities of the Commissioner for the European Court of Human Rights of the Department of Judicial Work and International Legal Assistance of the North-Eastern Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Sumy.

On April 12, 2021 in the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law within the weeks of international law an open lecture was held by the Chief Specialist for Ensuring the Activities of the Commissioner for ECtHR of the Department of Judicial Work and International Legal Assistance of the Northeast Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Sumy – Tkachenko Yevheniia Olehivna on the topic: “Application of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the activities of the ECtHR (sub-block: Activities to support the state’s position in the ECtHR). The event was attended by students majoring in “International Law”, “Law”, teachers of the Department of International, European Law and Civil Law.

During the lecture, Tkachenko Yevheniia Olehivna, Chief Specialist for Ensuring the Activities of the Commissioner for Judicial Affairs and International Legal Assistance, spoke about the essence and content of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in Ukraine. In her report, Yevheniia Olehivna drew attention to the peculiarities of the structure and composition of the European Court, the procedure for its formation and the process of its consideration of the applications. Some practical aspects of submission of an application and further communication with the court were also considered, as well as examples of some high-profile cases involving Ukraine that were considered in the European Court of Human Rights.

At the end of the lecture there was a discussion in which the guests of the lecture took an active part.
